Who is Martell Ventures?

We’re a young, fast-growth tech company focused on designing and building complex business platforms that generate proprietary technology that we own and can leverage & license.

How did we get into this?

We were part of the founding team of Bungie Software (developing games such as Marathon, Myth, Oni and Halo) and now focus on large, complex business systems ranging from international crowd-funding sites to Fortune 100 product marketing sites and mobile apps.

OK, how does Martell Ventures do this?

Our offerings are custom SaaS products delivered through a mobile application and web interface. We prefer to work within open platforms and large-scale cloud hosting (e.g. AWS). Our future focus is applying AI to our clients’ large data sets. We are at the beginning of this path but feel this is the correct strategy for long-term growth for our clients and us.

Join us and you’ll have the opportunity to use and grow your skills by: developing highly scalable systems; designing clean and responsive user interfaces; and, building web/mobile applications. You’ll be joining an experienced dev group with a proven track record of success.

We’re small with an incredibly dynamic and evolving environment. (OK, it can be a bit chaotic.) You can work from your home (our CTO used to work from his boat). We have periodic development meetings in Denver, Detroit and Vancouver. This position is not a good match for everyone. Essential Functions / Responsibilities

• Participate in the design and development of all aspects of various projects from the user interface design, API design, backend development, and persistent storage.
• Estimate time to: complete/implement tasks; test tasks; push code up for code review; make or discuss changes from the code review; update the time spent on the task; and retroactively review the entire task (especially estimate vs. time spent). Rinse & repeat.
• Work within multiple, existing projects to improve, maintain and implement new features.
• Communicate with the team to show progress, ask for help, trade jokes, discuss new features, etc.
• We expect this position will spend 60%-70% on frontend and 30%-40% of the time on backend.

Qualifications

• You really enjoy coding. (i.e. You enjoy working on problems and figuring-out/coding new solutions. This is something you do when you’re bored.)
• Ability to work remotely and play well with others.
• Be a self-starter who proactively: seeks out new tasks; collaborates with team members; and, searches for solutions to problems before asking for help.
• Minimum requirements:
  • Experience with PHP
  • Experience with HTML/CSS
  • Experience with Javascript
  • Experience with git/github
• Ideal requirements, experience with:
  • Laravel
  • CodeIgniter
  • AngularJS
  • Vue.js
  • React
• Two or more years of development experience with a reviewable portfolio of PHP and front-end development work
• Self-starter and self-manager who enjoys a dynamic work environment
